Compensation Board recommends across the board raises
The Humboldt County Compensation Board met last Thursday and heard from county elected officials about their jobs. The board then reviewed information from other counties and debated the merits of wage increases and appropriate amounts for each position. After some discussion, the board elected to recommend 7 percent wage increases for both the Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger and Humboldt County Attorney Jon Beaty. After some discussion, the board decided that Humboldt County Auditor Peggy Rice should be reimbursed for her extra hours as the county’s commissioner of elections. The board recommended a 5 percent wage increase for Rice. The board decided on 3 percent raises for Humboldt County Treasurer Jana Bratland and Humboldt County Recorder Diane Amundson, as well as all five county supervisors, Carl Mattes, Jerry Haverly, Rick Pedersen, John “Mort” Christianson and Harlan Hansen. The recommendations were presented to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on Monday.
