Warm weather results in new deck for bridge
Godberson-Smith Construction Company of Ida Grove took advantage of warmer temperatures to pour the bridge deck on the Sumner Avenue Bridge on Thursday, March 12. It is hoped the bridge project could be completed by the end of May. With lights set up to start in the early morning hours, it was actually about 7:30 a.m. on Thursday before the first concrete flowed through a concrete pump to the bridge deck area. Crews filled a myriad of green steel re-bar with concrete to a depth of two feet, finishing up after 5 p.m. About 800 yards (80 truckloads) of concrete was used for the bridge deck.
