180,000 meals packaged by Humboldt community
“Fantastic, Marvelous, Super!” Those were a few of the adjectives being used to describe the community effort to package more than 180,000 meals for the hungry last Friday and Saturday at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Humboldt Middle School and St. Mary’s packaged meals on Friday and adult and children volunteers joined in the fun on Saturday, with a total of between 900-1,000 volunteers. The Meals from the Heartland meal packaging is in its fifth year and grows every year. This year’s goal was 160,000 meals. "Humboldt continually raises the bar every year, packaging more and more meals than ever before, making it the largest community Meals from the Heartland event outside of the Des Moines metro area," Meals from the Heartland Director and Humboldt native David Bradley.
