Supervisors get serious about security

Humboldt County is getting serious about courthouse security. During its regular weekly meeting on Monday, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors heard about security directives that will be going into effect. Some of the measures are already being adhered to, others will provide more security for courthouse employees and members of the public doing business at the county offices in Dakota City. Humboldt County Auditor and board secretary Peggy Rice reported on attending a recent Iowa State Association of Counties meeting about security issues and ways to make improvements. Beginning this week, all doors to the courthouse will be locked until 7:45 a.m. and will be re-locked at 4:45 p.m. Only the main entrance door and the handicapped entrance door will be unlocked during business hours.
