Wildcat boys' golf team wins Storm Lake Invitational

Humboldt's varsity boys' golf team won the Storm Lake Invitational last Saturday, May 2. Humboldt totaled 324 strokes to surpass runner-up Carroll which shot 335. Christian Birdsell fired 38-39--77 to pace Humboldt and earn runner-up medalist honors. Austen Gargano added 40-40--80.Christian Birdsell shot a school record 32 (on a par 37 course) in leading Humboldt past Hampton-Dumont and Fort Dodge St. Edmond in a North Central Conference golf triangular on May 1 in Hampton. Jaxon Heinz added 34.Humboldt will golf in a tournament at Ames on Saturday, May 9, then travel to Algona on May 11 for the conference meet which starts at 10 a.m.See full story and photos in the Humboldt Independent.
