Girls 2nd, boys 8th in Algona cross country
The Humboldt High girls' cross country team placed second in the Algona Invitational Monday night (Sept. 28), finishing behind No. 5 Spencer and ahead of No. 10 Charles City. Gabby Kent, Isabella Luu and Maddie Kampen again led the way for the Wildcats finishing in sixth, ninth and 13th, respectively. Kelly Boleyn placed fourth in the girls JV race. The Wildcat boys finished in 8th place in the 18-team field. Ryan Courtney was the top finisher for the Wildcat boys, placing 16th. The Humboldt boys JV squad secured a runner-up finish in the JV team race. Nick Ellis was the JV individual champion. Other top twenty finishes included Brayden Collins (3rd), Logan Vitzthum (11th) and Noah Helmer (17th).Humboldt runs next in the Dick Bell Invitational at Eagle Grove on Oct. 6.
