Busse goes 1-2 in state wrestling

Humboldt High freshman 132-pounder Joey Busse (42-9 record) saw his hopes of winning a medal fall short in a hard-fought, 4-3 loss to Colton Vest of State Center in the consolation round of the Class 2A state wrestling tournament in Des Moines on Friday, Feb. 19. Busse had kept his season alive by winning his consolation wrestleback match Thursday night (Feb. 18) in the Class 2A State Wrestling Championships at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.Busse opened the tourney by losing to No. 2 ranked Brice Everson of Camanche, 15-0 in a match that ended with 18 seconds left in the final period.
