Wildcat softball winning streak ends

Fort Dodge St. Edmond avenged an early season shutout loss to Humboldt by shocking the No. 6 ranked Wildcats with an 11-8 setback on June 21 in Fort Dodge.
The game was played at mid-day and was rescheduled from a June 13 rainout. Humboldt produced 10 hits but committed four errors.
Beth Duffield was 3-for-4 at bat with two runs scored to lead Humboldt on offense.
Humboldt, 18-2 overall, 8-1 and first in the NCC, returns to action today (June 22) when they play at Hampton-Dumont.
Humboldt learned on Wednesday afternoon they will host Carroll Kuemper in a first round 3A region 8 contest on July 6, 7 p.m. The winner plays Pocahontas Area or Southeast Valley on July 8 in Humboldt. Other half of region 8 has Atlantic hosting Red Oak and Shenandoah hosting Clarinda.
