Larson paying his dues at Iowa State

There probably isn’t anybody on the Iowa State University football depth chart who appreciates his journey more than Humboldt’s Bryan Larson.
Larson, a 2013 Humboldt High School graduate, is starting his fourth year with the Cyclone program after earning a spot on the team as a regular walk-on. Today, Larson, who is still a non-scholarship player, is listed as the No. 2 man at right offensive guard.
“When I was coming out of high school, I decided after going through the recruiting process with smaller schools that I wanted to take on a bigger challenge and play at a Division I-A school,” Larson said. “I had my mind made up even before I made the team as a walk-on. I came here with the full intention of making the team at the tryout.”
“Being a walk-on is a positive because you have to work so much harder. Everything means so much to you. It’s a blessing to me that I can be here,” Larson said.
“Looking back from where I was to where I am now, I’m really happy about all the work I have put in and with the challenge that I have taken on. I’m getting the full potential as a person overall. I work hard each day trying to beat guys who are scholarship players,” Larson said. “Starting from the bottom and working my way up has meant more to me than doing it any other way.”
