Wildcats set to defend NCC title
After winning the North Central Conference championship in each of the last two seasons, one might think the well has run dry for the Humboldt High volleyball team – far from it.
Thanks to the return of four players who received all-conference honors, the Wildcats and second-year head coach Justin McDaniel are poised to make another title run.
Last year Humboldt rolled to a 28-5 season in which the Wildcats won the outright North Central Conference title with a perfect 7-0 record.
While those are all building blocks for success, McDaniel says his team is clearly focused on the task in front of them.
“We won the conference two seasons ago and that gave us confidence and added fire, so we came out last year and took it one game at a time and for the first time in school history we won the conference title outright,” McDaniel said.
“We did lose a good group of seniors off of last year’s team. We lost a lot of leaders from that group, but we have a lot of leader potential here with this squad. We’ll take it one game at a time and hopefully good things will happen for us,” McDaniel said.
