Bryce Gidel's record time leads Humboldt girls at Webster City

Freshman sensation Bryce Gidel led all female runners with a record time of 19:40 to carry the Humboldt High cross country team to the team title of the Webster City Lynx Invitational on Tuesday (Aug. 30). Teammate Gabby Kent was runner-up and Avery Terwilliger 10th in 22:53. Kate Curran was 15th and Madeleine Ruzicka 17th. Humboldt outscored runner-up Fort Dodge St. Edmond by 30 points (42-72).

In the boys' division, Humboldt finished third with 87 points. South Hamilton (49) and Fort Dodge (86) finished 1-2. Joe Kunert paced the Wildcats by running eighth overall in 17:49. Teammate Ryan Courtney was 11th, Denny Pederson 19th, Isaac Thurm 24th and Calvin Carlson 25th.
