Humboldt girls fall in 3A region final to North Polk

STORY CITY – Humboldt's bid for the school's first-ever state volleyball tournament berth fell short Monday night (Oct. 31) when the North Polk Comets turned back the Wildcats in three straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-21 in the Roland-Story High gym.

North Polk advanced on to the state tournament in Cedar Rapids next week with a 37-9 record. Humboldt's stellar season comes to a close for the No. 8 ranked Wildcats, who finished 33-2 overall. The Wildcats were unbeaten in winning the North Central Conference title this past season.
