Wildcat girls upend St. Edmond, boys fall

Humboldt's varsity girl/boy basketball teams split a pair of varsity games at Fort Dodge St. Edmond Friday night (Jan. 20). The Wildcat girls posted a 41-28 victory while the boys fell, 72-51.

Sydney Lane scored 12 points and Abby Zaugg made 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Humboldt girls, who improved to 9-3 overall, 6-2 in the North Central Conference.

Calvin Carlson scored 13 points and Jamison Heinz made 9 to lead the Humboldt boys against St. Edmond. The Wildcats slipped to 5-6 overall, 3-4 in the NCC.

Humboldt's girls return to the court on Monday, Jan. 23, when they visit Algona Garrigan in a JV-varsity doubleheader. The Wildcat girl/boy varsity and JV teams will visit Webster City on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Humboldt will host Algona on Thursday, Jan. 26, in a slate of games rescheduled from Jan. 17 due to an ice storm.
