Joe Hadar returns to lead Wildcat boys’ soccer

Joe Hadar, who was instrumental in bringing the sport of soccer into the Humboldt school district, is back this year as head coach of the Wildcat boys’ program.
Hadar, who coached the squad from 2002 to 2014, takes over the reins after coach Danny Zach departed last November after two seasons at the helm to take a position in Fort Dodge.
“It feels good to be back coaching. I’m fortunate that the freshmen on the team when I last coached are now seniors. I still know some of the kids and most of them I know from the youth program,” Hadar said.
“We have a good mix of athletes from all classes. We have 10 seniors, four juniors, 10 sophomores and four freshmen,” Hadar said. “They all seem to have pretty decent, basic skills.”
“We have 12 lettermen back. That’s a core group of players who have played the game at the high school level and have a lot of high school experience. That is good to start with,” Hadar said. “From what I’ve seen, a good team has to have a solid spine in soccer. We’ve got good coverage up the middle.”
“It will be interesting to see where the guys fit in with my system, compared to where they were at last year,” Hadar said. “There might be some surprise changes.”
“To have 14 juniors and seniors and 14 freshmen and sophomores is a perfect mix of how you want the team to be set up,” Hadar said.
