Wildcat girls set to defend NCC title

The Humboldt High girls’ golf team is in the midst of a great run that is already established in the school’s tradition-rich history.
Last year the Wildcats had a record-setting season in which the Wildcats went unbeaten through the regular season, claimed the conference dual and tournament titles and finished fifth in the Class 3A state meet with five members returning from that squad.
How do you top that?
“The season we had last year was incredible. We went undefeated during the regular season. We won the conference title and broke the school record and qualified for state and placed fifth in Class 3A,” Humboldt coach Jess Harklau said.
“Where do we go from that point? Do we try to do better than what we did last year? I know the girls want to go back to state. That is our ultimate goal, to get back to state and win it,” Harklau said.
“But right now that is too far away. I don’t like to get too far ahead. I want the girls to go out and do the best they can in every golf meet. When they make a mistake, learn from it and go forward. One meet at a time,” Harklau said.
