Receives offer to move up to next level

Goldfield native Afton Swanson continues to make her mark on the national professional drag racing scene.
Swanson, formerly Afton Harvey, who grew up between Humboldt and Goldfield and raced with her father (Tom Harvey) at the Humboldt County Dragway starting at the age of nine, finished the 2017 racing season 23rd in points out of 495 competitors in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Lucas Oil Racing Series in Top Dragster.
The success of the 26-year-old woman who now lives in Denver, IA, and works for DENSO in Waterloo, caught the attention of major teams within the NHRA.
In December, while attending the Performance Racing Industry show in Indianapolis, the premier trade show within motorsports in the world, Swanson was approached by the owner of a soon-to-be-announced Top Alcohol Dragster team, to become their driver at selected events.
