In their regular monthly meeting Monday night (April 6), the Humboldt School Board filled two more administrative positions for the 2020-21 school year.
The board approved hiring Dr. Paul Numedahl as high school principal and Ryan Fedders as elementary principal.
Interim superintendent Mike Sherwood gave an overview to the board on the hiring of Numedahl and Fedders.
“Ryan is a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. He received his Master’s Degree in Leadership from Drake University,” Sherwood said. “He is currently a fifth grade teacher at Crocker Elementary School in Ankeny.”
“He has administrative experience with Crocker Elementary School as well as in Waukee at the elementary level,” Sherwood said. “He is a member of their district leadership team, the Drake Continual Improvement Network and the Crocker Instructional Leadership Team.”
“Paul Numedahl received his B.A. Degree in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, his Master’s Degree in curricular instruction from the University of Iowa and his Doctorate in curriculum instruction from the University of Iowa. He is currently serving as assistant principal at Palmer Ridge High School in Monument, CO,” Sherwood said.
“Prior to that he was director of assessment for the Denver Public School System in Denver, CO,” Sherwood said.
The Board also received the initial proposal from the Humboldt Education Association (HEA) at Monday's meeting. The HEA is proposing a 5.29 percent ($3,000) increase in teacher salaries. The Board of Education said the district is offering a 1 percent ($535) increase.
