Wildcat Pride pump benefits Humboldt athletics
Crossroads Country Store, located just across from Humboldt Middle School and Humboldt High School, now has a Wildcat Pride gas pump.
With each gallon of fuel purchased from pump #1, two cents will be donated to the Humboldt Athletic Boosters to support Humboldt athletics.
“It’s a way to give back to communities and schools and show our pride for our team,” Steve Kimmes, President of Kimmes Enterprises which owns Crossroads Country Store, said.
To kick off the Wildcat Pride Pump, Kimmes presented a $500 check to Humboldt Athletic Boosters President Sue Kuehnast last Tuesday.
Kimmes, who bought the Humboldt gas station and convenience store in December, said Humboldt is their 11th Pride Pump location.
“We started the Pride Pump program two years ago and it has been very popular,” Kimmes said.
The company employs a dozen people at the Humboldt location and 120 company-wide.
“We are deeply committed to the communities we serve. Our team here is actively engaged in the community, school, sports and activities. We’re happy to be able to provide some funding to help the schools and show our pride,” Kimmes said.
Anyone who purchases fuel at the pump #1, a percentage of the sale will go towards the Humboldt Athletic Boosters. Currently, the donation is two cents per gallon, but it can vary for special promotions or events. Those who purchase fuel need not enter any special codes. They just need to purchase from the Wildcat Pride Pump, which is Pump #1 (the furthest west pump) at Crossroads.
Kimmes said the Humboldt Athletic Boosters will receive payments quarterly.
