Rec Center to reopen on Monday

“The Humboldt Recreation Center will opening June 1 at 5 a.m. We know everyone is excited to come and enjoy the facility, but please remember things will be very different,” Paxton Petersen the city’s interim recreation director said.
The Humboldt Recreation will be following guidelines and precautions from Governor Kim Reynolds and Iowa Department of Public Health, and will be strictly enforcing them to ensure the health of our members and employees.
Please read the list of restrictions and precautions below to familiarize yourself and families with the changes that we will be following. We also ask that everyone follow these restrictions and use healthy hygiene so we can continue to loosen restrictions.
The Humboldt Recreation Center will be reopening to members on Monday, June 1.
All guidelines still require all employees and members to follow social distancing guidelines at all times within the facility. We will be taking the following actions to ensure the safety of our staff and members when we open: daily temperature checks for all employees at the start of each shift, continuing to disinfect high traffic areas and equipment throughout the facility, and providing hand sanitizer at multiple stations.

Hours:
Monday- Friday: 5 a.m.-8 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Capacity: 150

• All members MUST use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the facility
• NO Daycare
• NO organized group activities, practices, or classes
• Classrooms will be open to members, but each will be labeled with specific capacity that will be monitored by employees.
• Weight and cardio equipment will be moved or closed to maintain social distancing guidelines.
• 15-person max capacity in weight room while maintaining 6-feet social distancing
• There will be a time limit of 30 Minutes on all Elliptical machines.
• Multipurpose room max capacity will be 10 people
• We ask all members to bring physical key fob to check in each day
• Racquetball courts will be closed
• Equipment checkout will be allowed
• Showers & Saunas will be closed
• Drinking fountains will not be accessible
• NO Gaga Ball or Dodgeball
• Only 7 basketball hoops will be accessible with a limit of 3 people per hoop
• Singles pickleball only with a max of 2 balls checked out at each court
• The batting cage will have a max capacity of 2 people at a time
• All members must maintain social distancing guidelines at all times in the facility
• Members must disinfect all equipment after use including, but not limited to: machine seats, adjustment handles, barbells, dumbbells, weights, mats, exercise balls, and all other touched equipment
• Day passes allowed for Humboldt Residents only.
The city of Humboldt appreciates the patience of members in allowing safety protocols to be put in place before opening. Following the listed guidelines will help insure that the facility will be able to continue to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pool and Recreation
The city of Humboldt is listing plans to open the Humboldt Family Aquatic Center for lap swim and swimming lessons beginning June 8. The matter will be discussed at the Humboldt City Council meeting and Humboldt Park Board meeting this coming week.
Also, T-ball and coach pitch ball will begin June 8. The seasons for third-sixth grade softball and baseball have been cancelled this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Look for more updates on this website and in the Humboldt Independent, your trusted source for local news and sports.
