Now that the concrete has been poured at the new Humboldt High School parking lot, school officials are exploring changes in how traffic flows in and out of the school lot.
Humboldt School Superintendent Jim Murray gave an in-depth report during the regular monthly meeting of the Humboldt School Board Monday night, Aug. 17.
Murray said the parking lot marking will take place this week. He noted 10-foot parking spots will be painted for a total of 389 stalls. The administrative team and directors are recommending students use only the west exit after school.
“In talking with our high school administrators, Leo (Reigelsberger, transportation director) and Greg Thomas (athletic director), we are considering having one entry be an exit and the other being an entry,” Murray said. “Another consideration is having two entrances in the morning so we can get students in quickly, then after school have one of those be an exit. A third option is to leave it as it was in the past.”
“We are looking at safety. We won’t paint anything until we get it to where we like it. We are leaning toward one exit after school for sure, and we will continue to gather more information from the high school staff,” Murray said.
