Lange named 2nd team

In unprecedented fashion, Humboldt’s talented softball team had four players named to the all-state team, released last week by the Iowa Coaches Association.
Humboldt, which swept to its fifth straight North Central Conference championship and its third state tournament trip in four years, had a trio of first-team selections and one second-team pick.
Senior pitcher Ellie Jacobson and senior centerfielder Carlie Thompson were named to the first-team, along with junior first baseman Kendal Clark. Senior catcher Mady Lange was chosen second-team.
Jacobson was also selected for the elite senior all-star game. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the contest was not played.
They helped the Wildcats post an overall record of 20-3, 7-0 and champions of the NCC for the fifth consecutive year.
