Humboldt girls sidelined by No. 3 Unity Christian in regional semifinal

The Humboldt girls' basketball team ended their record-setting season Wednesday night (Feb. 17), falling 94-63 to No. 3 ranked Unity Christian of Orange City in a Class 3A Region 2 semifinal round game in Orange City.

Kendal Clark scored 19 points, Jori Hajek made 15 and Alexis Hansen and Jayda Hoefer each had eight to lead Humboldt. Bae Arnold added seven. Humboldt's season ends at 18-5 overall.

The Knights were led by Gracie Schoonhoven and Janie Schoonhoven, with 26 and 24 points, respectively. Jenna Bouma had 13 as Unity improved to 21-2.

Unity Christian advances into a regional championship game on Saturday, Feb. 20, at Spirit Lake against Estherville-Lincoln Central (18-5). ELC defeated Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, 48-36, in the other semifinal.
