Wildcats rip Storm Lake in season finale, 74-49

The Humboldt boys' basketball team overcame a 13-0 early deficit and went on to rip Storm Lake, 74-49 Thursday night (Feb. 18) in a non-conference regular season finale in the Humboldt gym.

Gabe Gidel and Will Orness each scored 16 points and Sam Fischer had 12 to lead the Wildcats. Caden Matson added 10.

Humboldt improved to 13-7 overall.

4th quarter surge powers Gilbert past Humboldt boys, 73-49
The Gilbert Tigers outscored Humboldt 24-9 in the fourth quarter to secure a 73-49 victory over Humboldt Tuesday night (Feb. 16) in varsity boys' basketball.

The non-conference loss moved the Wildcats' record to 12-7 overall. Gilbert improved to 9-11.

Humboldt will host Webster City in a Class 3A substate tournament opener on Monday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. The winner will face Algona or Boone in a semifinal round game in Algona on Feb. 25. Algona and Boone meet in another quarterfinal round game in Algona.

The other half of the substate has Clear Lake hosting Hampton-Dumont-CAl and Spencer hosting Estherville-Lincoln Central.
