Wildcat boys 3rd in qualifying meet, advance 7 events to state

The Humboldt boys track team placed third in the team scoring at Nevada and had five automatic qualifiers, seven overall, for next week's Class 3A state track meet in Des Moines.
In their Class 3A qualifying meet on May 13, Humboldt had four first-place finishes and one runner-up.
The top two place winners in each event along with the eight best statewide advance to the state meet in Des Moines May 20-22.
Quinton Orr won the 1,600 and 3,200-meters events while Eric Wittrock won the 800-meters. Humboldt's 1,600-meter medley relay of Lance Coon, Orr, Cale Hundertmark and Wittrock took first in 3:36.71.
Humboldt's 4x200 relay took second in 3:28. The foursome consisted of Hundertmark, Carson Berte, Orr and Wittrock. Cale Hundertmark finished fourth in the 400-meters in 52.65 but earned an at-large berth.
Humboldt's 4x800 relay also earned an at-large berth in placing third in 8:20.65. The relay consisted of Nolan Jergens, Carter Theesfeld, Trevor Jacobson and Eric Wittrock.
