County formulates way to spend $1.8 million
By KENT THOMPSON
While not as daunting as implementing the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, Humboldt County’s portion (an estimated $1.8 million), needs to be spent.
On Monday, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors met with Humboldt County Economic Development Director Alissa O’Connor and Humboldt County Conservation Director Todd Lee to figure out ways to do that.
Humboldt County Auditor Trish Erickson reported that the county now has its nine-digit Dunn and Bradstreet number and its SAM (System for Award Management) number. The SAM code is required for every entity registered to do business with the federal government.
Now, Humboldt County must come up with a plan to appropriately spend the funds for qualified expenses by Dec. 31, 2026. The deadline for submitting the plan is by Aug. 31 of this year.
