A strong finish highlighted Humboldt’s recently completed cross country season.
Veteran Humboldt head coach Dean Clasen had praise for his squad at the team’s dinner banquet held on Nov. 9 at the high school.
The event paid tribute to the Wildcats’ 2021 season, in which the boys finished runner-up in the North Central Conference meet and the girls placed third.
The season ended with seniors Trevor Jacobson and Jackson Chambers running in the Class 3A state championship on Oct. 29. Jacobson finished 43rd in 17:28 and Chambers was 90th in 17:59.
“Overall this past season we plateaued in the middle of the season then we saw some nice improvement at the end. Any coach will tell you whatever sport it is, you want to be doing your very best at the very end,” Clasen said. “That’s pretty much what happened for us. We had a pretty good season in that respect.”
