Humboldt wrestlers advance 4 to state!

Humboldt qualified 4 wrestlers to the state tournament in Des Moines Feb. 17-20 at Wells Fargo arena after competing in a Class 2A district in Huxley on Saturday, Feb. 12.
Joe Weydert was first at 152 pounds to advance. Runners-up for the Wildcats include Cyler Cirks at 106, David Muir at 120 and Jayden Gargano at 126.
Humboldt wrestlers who fell short include Owen Mayall at 113, Dusty Pate at 132, Jase Goodell at 138 and Ty Gargano at 145.
The state tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. Quarterfinals and consolation wrestleback begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18. Semifinals begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday with consolation wrestlebacks following. Consolation final rounds will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m. The finals will be Saturday night at 5:45 p.m.
In Humboldt's opening round matches, Cirks will face Ethan Skoglund (40-8, sophomore) of Sergeant Bluff-Luton. Muir will meet Carson Less (38-3, junior) of West Delaware. Gargano will wrestle Bo Koedam (41-5, freshman) of Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Weydert will face Isaiah Fenton (46-6, junior) of Burlington, Notre Dame.
