Supervisors reduce Comp Board recommendation
Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger will be getting a salary increase of just over 12 percent next year, not the 18 percent proposed by the Humboldt County Compensation Board last month.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on Monday did something it did not want to do, lower the recommended raises of the county’s elected officials.
Saying they had no choice given budget constraints and the amount of revenue the county is looking at taking in, the Supervisors unanimously agreed to reduce the recommended raises by the County Compensation Board by 33 percent.
After some discussion, the Board agreed to a 4.02 percent salary increase for all elected officeholders, with the exception of the sheriff. The 33.3 percent decrease for the sheriff would still leave him with a 12.06 salary increase, just over $10,571 per year more.
The change will get the sheriff to a $98,225.13 annual salary beginning on July 1.
