Elizondo signs with Iowa Central

Elizondo will join Triton wrestling team

Humboldt High senior Maria Elizondo was part of something special when she wrestled for the Wildcats the last few seasons.

Elizondo will be part of something special again next year when she joins the newly-formed Iowa Central Community College women’s wrestling team.

Elizondo signed a national letter of intent last week to attend Iowa Central and wrestle for the Tritons. Triton head coach Zach Hensley was in Humboldt for the signing event.

“Last fall I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue to wrestle in college but it came into my life and it’s a great opportunity and it’s close to home,” said Elizondo, a two-time state placewinner at Humboldt.
