Wildcats advance to state soccer!


The Humboldt boys' soccer team advanced to the state tournament for the first time in school history after stopping Perry, 3-1 in Humboldt Wednesday night (May 25) in a Class 2A substate final round contest. The Humboldt boys' soccer team earned the school's first-ever trip to the state tournament by shutting out the Perry Blue Jays, 3-1 in Humboldt on May 25.

The victory improved the No. 1 ranked Wildcats' season record to 17-0.

Humboldt got goals from Jacob Heier, Antonio Xum Vicario and Isaiah Kahl. Humboldt led 3-0 at halftime. Perry scored its only goal late in the contest on a penalty kick.

The Wildcats drew a No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Council Bluffs Lewis Central on June 1 in Des Moines at 2:30 p.m. on field 8 at Cownie Soccer complex. The winner will play No. 2 Bondurant-Farrar (17-2) or No. 7 Newton (13-6) in the semifinals on June 3 at 2:30 p.m.

The other half of the state tournament bracket has No. 1 seed Pella (17-2) facing No. 8 seed Spencer (13-4), and No. 4 Marion (16-1) facing No. 5 Gilbert (16-2). The finals are set for June 4 at 3:30 p.m.
