Wildcat girls pound HDC, 12-2

The Humboldt softball team got back in the win column Friday night (June 24) by handing Hampton-Dumont-CAL a 12-2 setback in six innings. Elsie Hubbell pitched a 3-hitter for the Wildcats, who moved to 12-7 overall, 7-4 in conference play. Alexis Hansen was 2-for-3 at bat with a triple. Paige Opheim hit a double.
Humboldt went 0-2 in the Boone tournament on Saturday, June 25, falling 10-1 to Gilbert and 7-5 to Boone.
Wildcat girls down Algona, fall to Spencer
The Spencer Tigers snapped Humboldt's two-game win streak by upending the Wildcat softball team, 7-3 Thursday night (June 23) in Humboldt in non-conference action.
Paige Opheim hit a double and scored a run to pace Humboldt's offense. Claire Dieleman singled and scored. Rylee Coyle also singled. Abby Armitage pitched the first 4.3 innings and gave up five runs and four hits. Elsie Hubbell pitched 2.6 innings giving up five hits and two runs.
Humboldt 8, Algona 4
The Humboldt softball team made it a season sweep of the Algona Bulldogs by posting an 8-4 victory at Algona on June 22. Elsie Hubbell pitched a 3-hitter for the Wildcats. Addie Thompson was 2-for-3 with a home run and Paige Opheim also homered.
Humboldt blanks Cowgirls, 13-0
Gracie Lyon hit a grand slam home run with no out in the bottom of the 5th inning to lift the Humboldt softball team to a 13-0 victory over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Monday night (June 20) in Humboldt.
Alexis Hansen homered and tripled and Paige Opheim tripled for Humboldt.
Abby Armitage pitched five innings for the Wildcats to earn the win.
