Wildcat softball team holds off Cadets, 8-5

The Humboldt softball team got back in the win column Wednesday night by turning back the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets, 8-5.

Paige Opheim was 4-for-4 at bat to lead Humboldt. Rylee Coyle also hit safely. Brianna Lange was the winning pitcher.

Humboldt is 13-11 overall, 8-5 in the NCC.

Humboldt girls edged by Pocahontas, 8-6
Pocahontas Area turned back Humboldt 8-6 in a non-conference softball game in Humboldt Tuesday night, June 28.

Elsie Hubbell homered and Paige Opheim doubled at the plate for Humboldt, now 12-11 overall.

Lions hold off Wildcat girls, 9-7
Clear Lake held off Humboldt, 9-7 in a North Central Conference softball game at Clear Lake Monday night, June 27.

Humboldt slipped to 12-10 overall, 7-5 in conference play.

Gracie Lyon hit a two-run homer and Addie Thompson was 2-for-3 at bat with a double to pace Humboldt's batting order. Paige Opheim was 2-for-4.

Abby Armitage pitched the first 2.3 innings giving up five runs and four hits. Brianna Lange threw 1.6 innings allowing three hits and three runs. Elsie Hubbell threw two innings giving up one hit and one run.

Humboldt hosts Iowa Falls-Alden on Wednesday, June 29.

Webster City visits Humboldt on Friday, July 1.
