The Humboldt Area Arts Council is back and ready to celebrate the arts in the community with its 14th annual Arts Festival on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds
This year’s featured artisan will be Doug Abbott of Mankato, formerly of Story City. He isa member of Mankato Makerspace, a non-profit artisan group. Doug has used “a canvas of nature,” as he calls it, as an inspiration of many of his multi-media works.
At the Aug. 13 Festival, he will be featuring and demonstrating his skill as a welder in creating metal sculpture. He will be conducting demonstrations hourly and there will be six welding helmets people can put on to watch the artist at work.
There will be several artisans selling their wares and will be an number of kids' activities. The Nokomis Woodworking club has donated scrap wood for children to make their own creations. The Nedd Freeley Funn Bank will be playing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival will be going on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. See more information in this week's Humboldt Independent, on sale today or subscribe to the print or digital editions by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
