Fall sports teams open their seasons next week
Fall sports is just around the corner as athletes at Humboldt High School are preparing for their season openers next week.
The Wildcat football team will hold a controlled scrimmage at Fort Dodge in Dodger Stadium on Friday, Aug. 19, against Fort Dodge Senior High. Action begins at 6 p.m. with the freshman scrimmage. The varsity scrimmage follows at 6:45. Humboldt opens its season at home on Friday, Aug. 26, against Webster City.
The Wildcat volleyball team will open their season at Gilbert on Tuesday, Aug. 23. They travel to Bondurant-Farrar on Aug. 25. The Humboldt Invitational is set for Saturday, Aug. 27.
Humboldt's cross country team begins its season at Iowa Falls on Aug. 25, 5:30 p.m. at Mayne's Grove between Iowa Falls and Hampton. The Wildcats visit Webster City on Aug. 29.
Humboldt has two girls on the Fort Dodge Senior High swim team this fall. Emma Winter and Catalina Elizondo will compete for the Dodgers. Their season starts at home on Sept. 6.
