Defending NCC champ Wildcat girls eye repeat
Humboldt volleyball coach Kara Waldorf and her squad set the bar pretty high in her first year as head coach of the Wildcats last year.
Humboldt posted a perfect North Central Conference match record of 7-0. And for the first time in conference history dating back to the late 1970s, the Wildcats were the only school to sweep all of their opponents 3-0 in each match.
But one loss in last year’s 29-7 campaign serves as a motivator…a 3-0 loss to Waverly-Shell Rock in a Class 4A regional final.
“Last year we started the year with an entirely new team on the floor and they did a wonderful job of stepping up. That one year of experience under their belts now will help tremendously going into this season,” Waldorf said.
“I’m super excited about this season. Last year we got that newness out of our system and the girls are doing a great job right now. They know what their goals are and those are to get to state this year and I think we have the talent to be able to do that,” Waldorf said.
