Humboldt County is already a camping destination for many folks. Now the emphasis is on making it even better.
Humboldt had a record-breaking year in 2021, as far as number of campers and income.
“Camping in the county has been popular this year. It won’t be a record-breaking year like last year due to the late spring, high gas prices and inflation, but it should be a decent year in terms of revenues,” Humboldt County Conservation Director Todd Lee said on the eve of the Labor Day weekend, one of the busiest camping times of the year.
“We have a huge variety in terms of outdoor recreation and we are looking at adding to that with improvements to the dam/West Fork of the Des Moines River and the plans we have in place for additional campsites and other improvements at our county parks,” Lee said.
