Horbach steps down as assistant principal

Humboldt High School Assistant Principal Abby Horbach (left) has announced her resignation. High School science teacher Emily Lane has agreed to step into the position on an interim basis. School Superintendent Jim Murray (right) has said the Board of Education will act on the resignation at its Jan. 16 meeting. A search committee will be formed and the district hopes to have a replacement named within a month, if that is possible.

Abby Horbach, assistant principal at Humboldt High School, has stepped down from her position.
Humboldt School Superintendent Jim Murray informed staff after Horbach made the announcement last week. Horbach has held her position for two and one-half years.
The board of education is expected to accept her resignation at their next meeting on Monday, Jan. 16. As part of his announcement, Murray said high school science instructor Emily Lane will fill Horbach’s position on an interim basis.
“Emily Lane has graciously accepted the opportunity to serve as an interim Assistant Principal for the remainder of the school year. We will post the position internally and externally next week,” Murray said.
“We will utilize a committee hiring process. I hope to have a recommendation for the February school board meeting," Murray said.
