Wildcat matmen 3rd at Atlantic

Humboldt's boys' wrestling team placed nine individuals in the top eight and finished third in the team scoring of Rollin Dyer Invitational tournament in Atlantic on Saturday, Jan. 7.

Humboldt's top finishers were Ty Gargano second at 160, Cyler Cirks second at 113 and Jayden Gargano second at 126 pounds. Landon Halverson was third at 170 while Tyce Clarken was fourth at 120. Taking fifth-place was Jase Goodell at 152 pounds. Gaige Allen was sixth at 182 and Zayn Feaster was seventh at 145. Kyle Caquelin was eighth at 285.

Bondurant-Farrar was the team title with 227.5 points. Sergeant Bluff-Luton was second at 204 with Humboldt and Glenwood third with 138 points. Blair (Nebraska) was fifth with 129 points. There were 17 schools on hand for the event.

Humboldt travels to Hampton on Jan. 10 for a quad with Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Mason City and Ballard Huxley.

The Wildcats will host a conference triangular on Thursday, Jan. 12, 5:30 p.m. against Webster City and Iowa Falls-Alden. It will be Senior Night for the Wildcats.
