Bothne signs with Waldorf

Humboldt linebacker Carrson Bothne, who helped the Wildcats win a district title and advance to the state semifinals last fall, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Waldorf University in Forest City year and play football for the Warriors.

“I’m pretty excited to be able to continue playing football and I think I can make an impact up there,” Bothne said. “It’s a great school with a great program.”

“They’re an NAIA program that went 7-4 last year. They are bringing in a lot of high-powered recruits from other states and they have a great coaching staff. It’s a nice campus and it’s a tightknit community, which I like,” Bothne said.
“They are top 25 school in the nation in football among all NAIA schools,” Bothne said “I’m going to major in criminal justice and I want to come back to Humboldt and be a police officer.”

Bothne, a 6-1, 170-pounder, will continue to play outside linebacker at Waldorf.

“I never thought playing football in college would be an option for me. But after this past year, opportunities have opened up for me and they offered me a scholarship. It’s not real expensive up there. It feels like a good opportunity for me to pursue,” said Bothne, son of Bruce and Christine Bothne of Bode.
