Wildcat girls reign supreme, win Humboldt Relays track title

Humboldt won five events and ran away with the team title in their own Wildcat Relays held Monday night, April 24 in Humboldt.

The Wildcats finished with 155.5 points to easily outdistance runner-up Estherville-LC which had 116. Algona was third at 98.5 and Pocahontas Area had 92.

Humboldt freshman Brynn Malo won the 1,500-meters in 5:30.0 and also clocked 12:06.5 to win the 3,000-meters.

Humboldt’s 800-meter medley relay won with a time of 1:56.6. Tayla Wempen, Kate Sievers, Bella Metli and Morgan Mann comprised the winning relay for the Wildcats.

Morgan Mann won the high jump with a leap of 4-10. Tayla Wempen won the long jump with an effort measuring 15-7.

Humboldt competes in the Storm Lake Relays on April 27. The North Central Conference meet will be held on May 4 at Fort Dodge.
