HHS girls win title at Storm Lake

Ashlynn Works won the discus title to lead the Humboldt girls' track team to third in the team scoring of the North Central Conference meet at Fort Dodge on May 4. Works had the winning toss of 120-5.

Clear Lake won the team title with 163.5 points. Algona was second at 141.5 and Humboldt totaled 107. Iowa Falls-Alden was fourth wit 77.5 and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows fifth at 67. Fort Dodge St. Edmond had 66, Hampton-Dumont-CAL totaled 59 and Webster City finished with 44.5.

Humboldt was runner-up in three events. Works was second in the shot put at 35-8 and Morgan Mann was second in the high jump at 5-1. The 800-meter medley relay was second.

HHS girls win title at Storm Lake
The Humboldt girls' track team won three events and took the team title of the Storm Lake Relays on Thursday, April 27.

Humboldt totaled 126 points to edge runner-up Newell-Fonda, which had 123. Carroll was third at 114 and Pocahontas Area fourth with 89 in the seven-school field of teams.

Humboldt's 4x800 relay took first in 11:29.94. It consisted of Sophia Harris, Tori Gargano, Alana Malo and Meg Zweibohmer.

Brynn Malo won the 3,000-meters in 11:51.35.

The 1,600-meter medley relay also took first in 4:39.78.

The Wildcats will compete in the state qualifying meet at Nevada on May 11. The state meet is May 18-20 in Des Moines.
