Wildcats boys 3rd in NCC golf, Jayden Gargano is medalist

Led by meet medalist Jayden Gargano, the Humboldt boys' golf team placed third in the North Central Conference tournament held Monday, May 8 at Spring Valley Golf Course north of Livermore.
Gargano fired an even par 72 to lead all golfers. Tommy Birdsell of Hampton-Dumont-CAL was runner-up with a 73.
Clear Lake won the team crown with 310 strokes. HDC had 313 for second with Humboldt third at 315. Webster City was fourth with 327. Iowa Falls-Alden took fifth with 340, followed by Algona with 343, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows with 348 and Fort Dodge St. Edmond with 354.
Humboldt also had Carson Sleiter with 78, Parker Sleiter with 82, Carson Arndt 83, Corey Dettmann with an 84 and Ty Gargano with an 87.
Humboldt will compete in a Class 3A sectional tournament on Tuesday, May 9 at Spencer.
