Benefit for Lu Verne woman with cancer is June 10
A benefit event for Marcy Meyer, 44, of Lu Verne, has been set for Saturday, June 10, at the Lu Verne Community Center, 8 Dewitt Street,
Meyer, is a single mom with two children, L.J., 12 and Lilly, 11. Meyer is a lifelong Kossuth County resident and has lived in Lu Verne for 20 years.
In December 2022, she was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer, the most aggressive kind. She has undergone six chemo treatments, had breast surgery on May 19, and will have to undergo 30 days of radiation treatment this summer.
The day will start with lunch beginning at 11 a.m. There will a lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, cheesy potatoes, desserts and water, pink lemonade or coffee for a freewill donation. There will also be a bake sale.
