Humboldt baseball team in 8-2 victory at Clear Lake

The Humboldt baseball team took one step closer to the North Central Conference title by downing the Clear Lake Lions, 8-2 Wednesday night (June 21) in Clear Lake. The victory made it a season sweep over the Lions. Humboldt is now 18-3 overall, 10-0 in the NCC. The Wildcats host Webster City in a key league contest on Friday, June 23.

Class 2A power Estherville-Lincoln Central snapped Humboldt’s win streak at 13 games with a 2-0 non-conference victory over the Wildcats Tuesday night, June 20 at Estherville.
Humboldt 8, Algona 7
The Humboldt baseball team kept their unbeaten North Central Conference record intact by holding off the Algona Bulldogs, 8-7 Monday night (June 19) in Humboldt.
Humboldt, 17-2 overall, 9-0 in the NCC, got solid pitching from Jayden Gargano and Isaiah Busick. Gargano worked six innings before giving way to Busick in the seventh. Gargano allowed five hits and struck out five while Busick hit one batter and walked two, but fanned three to get out of the jam and end the game.
Mason Van Pelt hit a double and single to lead Humboldt at the plate. Riley Sorensen and Christian Lee each hit a double while Josh Thurm, Busick and Lee each hit a single.
Humboldt hosts Webster City on Friday, June 23.
