HHS TO HOST REGIONAL OPENER JULY 6
The Humboldt softball team stepped out of conference play by traveling to Spencer on June 22 and went on to post an 8-5 victory over the Tigers.
Leading 2-1 after four innings, Humboldt plated two runs in the sixth inning and added four more in the seventh to move to 13-9 overall on the season. Spencer fell to 11-10.
Wildcat girls over Clear Lake, 7-1
Humboldt’s softball team improved to 8-2 in conference play with a 7-1 victory at Clear Lake on Wednesday night, June 21.
The Humboldt softball team stayed in contention for the North Central Conference championship Monday night (June 19) by turning back the Algona Bulldogs, 5-3 in Humboldt, making it a season sweep over the Bulldogs.
Reagan Lee pitched all seven innings for the Wildcats and scattered five hits and struck out five. She was backed by a six-hit attack as Elsie Hubbell doubled while Claire Dieleman, Lee, Paige Opheim, Abby Armitage and Addie Thompson each hit a single.
The Wildcats host Webster City on Friday, June 23.
Humboldt plays at Gilbert and Boone on Saturday, June 24.
The Wildcats play at Clarion on Monday, June 26.
Humboldt will host Algona in a Class 3A first round regional tournament game on Thursday, July 6, at 7 p.m. The winner will play on July 8 at Saydel against Saydel or Harlan, who meet in the first round. The other half of 3A Region 7 has Greene County of Jefferson hosting Cherokee Washington and Southeast Valley hosting OABCIG. The regional final will be July 11 and hosted by the highest remaining ranked team.
