The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors heard from Joel Goodell, Humboldt Ward Three City Councilmember regarding a parcel of land that is owned by the city during their regular meeting on Monday, June 26.
The 16.4 acres of land, located on the south edge of town, is in the flood plain and cannot be built on. It can be farmed and has been occasionally, but not successfully as a row crop.
“I have been working with my constituents and the Boat Club and we have been talking about this land sale. I have made it known to the council and we have not voted on it at this point, but I would like to earmark that money for dam restoration,” Goodell said.
He stated that it would not be able to be used to reduce the dam’s size.
