Livermore native Adam Berte leads Williamsburg to state title!
Livermore native Adam Berte, a 2004 Twin River Valley High School graduate and head coach of the Williamsburg High softball team, finally secured the elusive state championship.
Berte’s Raiders shutout Davenport Assumption, 4-0 in the Class 3A state finals at Rogers Park in Fort Dodge on July 21. The top-seeded Raiders finally reached the top after they reached the semifinal round the previous three years.
Assumption eliminated Williamsburg in the semifinals a year ago, 1-0, and also won over Williamsburg in the semifinals in 2020.
“It feels great. We knew we were good enough to do it for a while and were playing our best at the right time and catching a few breaks certainly helped,” Berte said. “I’m proud of the kids for staying with it and making it happen.”
