HCMH has profound economic impact on county

When it comes to economic impact and community benefits, Humboldt County Memorial Hospital (HCMH) is at the top of the list.
According to an Iowa Hospital Association study, Iowa hospitals provide more than 145,000 jobs and pay more than $9.3 billion in wages. HCMH is no exception in its profound positive influence as an economic engine in the community.
The hospital is the county’s largest employer with 502.7 total jobs, 13.57 percent of all of the jobs in Humboldt County.
The local hospital pays $23,236,989 in wages, 13.04 percent of all wages paid in the county.
Total expenses of the hospital amount to $47,721,062, which is 10.39 percent of the county’s gross domestic product. (See chart)
The report states that hospitals in Iowa not only provide jobs, they create jobs by purchasing goods and services from other businesses.
