Humboldt boys 4th, girls 5th in Iowa Falls-Alden Invitational

Humboldt's varsity girl/boy cross country teams opened their seasons on Saturday morning (Aug. 26) competing in the Iowa Falls-Alden Invitational held at Mayne's Grove conservation area. The Wildcat boys were fourth while the girls took fifth.
Brynn Malo led the Wildcat girls by running sixth in 22:22. Alana Malo was next, running 23rd in 24:38.2. Addison Doughan of Clear Lake was the winner win 20:58.
Clear Lake won the girls title with 38 points, followed by Waken at 68, Iowa Falls-Alden 70, Dike-New Hartford 89, Humboldt 116 and Aplington-Parkersburg 144.
Clear Lake won the boys title with 25 points, followed by East Marshall at 55, Eagle Grove with 91, Humboldt with 125, Dike-New Hartford at 137, South Hardin 152, Belmond-Klemme 172, Iowa Falls-Alden 185.
Daylin McDaniel ran 11th overall in 20:17.6 to pace the Humboldt boys. Gabe Thumma ran 19th in 20:40.9. Kaleb Grant of East Marshall was the winner in 18:34.5.
Next action for Humboldt will be Monday, Aug. 28, in the Webster City Lynx Invitational at Links Golf Course north of Webster City.
