Wildcat runners in Lynx Invitational
Competing in the large school division, Humboldt's boys placed sixth and the girls were seventh in the Webster City Invitational cross country meet on Monday night, Aug. 28, at Links Golf Course north of Webster City.
In their second meet of the season and second in the last three days, the Wildcat boys finished with 176 points. Gilbert won with 22 points, followed by North Polk (80), Nevada (81), Ballard Huxley (107) and Fort Dodge (150). Waverly-Shell Rock was seventh with 182, Webster City eighth at 187 and Boone ninth with 215.
Gabe Thumma was 27th overall in 20:04 to pace Humboldt. Daylin McDaniel was 33rd in 20:47 and Hayden Hansen ran 36th in 21:11. Justin Ash was 37th in 21:15 and Peyton Van Pelt was 43rd in 21:41. Jaden Himrod ran 45th in 21:43 and Sterling Scranton was 50th in 22:00.
The Wildcat girls, who finished with 185 points, were led by Brynn Malo, who finished 13th in 22:15. Alana Malo was 36th in 24:07 and Meg Zweibohmer 39th in 24:36. Bella Metli ran 47th in 25:23 and Joslyn Orr was 50th in 25:28. Payton Elman ran 51st in 25:41 and Reagan Lee was 53rd in 26:33.
Gilbert won the team scoring with 45 points. Ballard was second at 47 and Fort Dodge St. Edmond third with 74. Roland-Story had 108, followed by North Polk with 129 and Nevada with 179. Algona was eighth with 221. Hampton-Dumont-CAL ninth at 234, Fort Dodge 10th with 308, Webster City 11th at 330 and Southeast Valley last with 346.
Next action for the Wildcats will be Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the Estherville Invitational.
